In late march, HCM was invited to the 36th Annual International Battery Seminar & Exhibit in Fort Lauderdale, Broward County, Florida, USA to make a keynote speech. HCM is about to officially published new generation olivine structure anode materials - the third generation LMFP. , carry forward the new development of the third generation of LMFP, which can significantly improve the security and high temperature cycle life of LNMC battery.
International Battery Seminar & Exhibit held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida is the biggest annual battery seminar & exhibit in the United States. This is a platform for the consumer, automotive, military industry and other advanced battery technology. This year, the 36th Annual International Battery Seminar & Exhibit will be held four days, from March 25 to March 28. Hirose Tech Co., Ltd and HCM were invited to deliver a keynote speech at the event at 12:20 p.m. on March 28.
The rapid growth of the global demand for new energy vehicles and energy storage market accelerates the demand for power lithium batteries. To improve the endurance of electric vehicles, the adoption of NCM batteries (523, 622, 811) has become the trend. However, LNCM anode materials have safety and cycle life disadvantages. The HCM technical team believes that the best solution to these problems shall start from the material nature and make good use of NCM+LMFP, and then the safety and high-temperature cycle life o LNCM battery can be improved obviously.
HCM is in a leading position on the development of LMFP anode materials in the world. The products of second generation have been tested and used by more than ten major manufacturers in Europe, America, Japan, China, Taiwan and Southeast Asia, including more than five corporations of Fortune Global 500. Our products are mainly used in electric cars, motorcycles, forklift truck, military industry, drones, electric tools, storage, and other fields. The latest third-generation products have been sent to several European and Japanese manufacturers for testing in the first quarter of this year and the third-generation products mainly apply in the field of electric vehicles.
HCM’s LMFP anode material is characterized by high energy density, safety, and cycle life. According to different customer requirements and application fields, we have developed two kinds of products, namely, energy type of highly compacted density
(2.2g/cm3) and magnification type of high-power density (85%@10c). Compared with the products of second generation, the third generation LMFP has smaller particle diameter, smaller specific surface area, higher compacted density, and higher charging and discharging rate of large current. The third generation of products mixed with LNMC anode material has better energy density than the products of second generation.
HCM pointed out that the energy density of the third-generation LMFP mixed with LNCM anode materials can be increased by about 5% compared with the second-generation materials. Verified by the world-class factories, the anode material of LMFP shows two highlights. One is to solve the safety problem of LNCM battery; the other is to improve the high-temperature cycle life of LNCM battery by more than 50%.
HCM technical team started with powder production equipment. In 2008, HCM received LMFP anode material technology transferred from Taiwan Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI). After more than 10 years of continuous research and development, the technical team has independently mastered the complete technical strength of production equipment, process and patent, product development, mass production capacity, etc. Due to its outstanding development performance in the field of LMFP anode materials, it has been recognized by many international leading manufacturers and thus established platforms for cooperation.
In 2019, HCM has completed the development of the new generation of LMFP anode material. With the support and test of several large international factories, the final specifications of the product will be set this year. In the short-term, HCM strives to join hands with European, American and Japanese manufacturers to seize the market demand for power battery anode materials, which is up to NT$ 200 billion per year.
